Thank you for using Emap. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Emap mobile app (“we”, “our”, “the App”) collects, how we use and share that information, and the controls you have.
This policy applies to both Android and iOS versions of the app and reflects the permissions and libraries declared in the Android and iOS

1. Summary (Short Version)

  • Emap collects only the minimum data necessary to provide attendance and mapping features.

  • Data collected may include location data, photos/images you choose to provide, and device/system information needed for the app to function.

  • Location is used only for attendance and mapping purposes, including optional background location (if enabled).

  • We do not sell personal data.

  • You control permissions on your device and can revoke them at any time.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location Data

  • When in use:
    The app requests location to get precise GPS location while you use the app. This is used for:

    • Attendance checks

    • Showing your position on maps

    • Geocoding (address lookup)

    • Location-based features

  • Background location (optional):
    If granted BACKGROUND LOCATION, the app may access location while in the background to support attendance or geofencing.
    You will be asked explicitly for this permission and can deny it.

Purpose: To verify attendance within an allowed radius, display maps, and enable location-based time/attendance logic.

2.2 Photos & Camera

  • The app may request Camera and Photo Library permissions for:

    • Taking photos (e.g., for profile or documentation).

    • Selecting images from your gallery.

  • These permissions are only used when you explicitly choose to take or upload a photo.

2.3 Device & App Information

  • Device model, OS version, and app version.

  • Local storage (using sqflite and shared_preferences) for preferences, offline attendance, cached map tiles, and settings.

  • Network connectivity status (using connectivity_plus) to detect online/offline mode.

2.4 Other Libraries / Plugins

  • google_maps_flutter / Google Maps API: Displays maps. Google may process data under its own policies.

  • geolocator, geocoding: Obtain GPS data and convert locations to addresses.

  • detect_fake_location: Detect spoofed locations. Data may be stored locally or transmitted for attendance verification.

  • image_picker, mobile_scanner: Enable image capture/selection and QR scanning (only when invoked).

3. How We Use the Collected Information

We use data for:

  • Attendance & location validation (check-in/out within permitted areas).

  • Maps & navigation display.

  • Profile management (profile photo, metadata).

  • Offline history & caching (local attendance history).

  • Security & fraud prevention (fake location detection).

  • Diagnostics & troubleshooting (bug fixing and performance improvements).

4. Data Retention & Storage

  • Local Storage: Attendance records, cached maps, and settings are stored on your device. Uninstalling the app usually removes this data.

  • Server Storage (if applicable): If connected to a backend server, attendance and profile data may be stored there (governed by that server’s privacy policy).

  • Retention Period: Data is kept only as long as necessary for the service or legal requirements.

5. Sharing & Disclosure

  • No Sale of Data: We do not sell personal information.

  • Third-Party Services: Data may be shared with map providers (Google Maps) or services you enable.

  • Aggregated Data: Non-identifiable statistics may be shared for analysis.

6. Your Choices & Controls

  • Permissions: You control app permissions in device settings (Location, Camera, Photos).

  • Uninstall: Removes local data but not data stored on external servers.

7. Security

We use safeguards such as:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS).

  • Minimal permissions and on-device processing.

  • Encouraging users to secure devices with passwords/biometrics.

8. Third-Party Links & Content

The app may display map. These linked pages have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

9. Children

  • We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will include a new effective date at the top. For significant changes, we may notify users via the app.
